About
In 1959, The Academy’s new headmaster, Valleau Wilkie, arrived on campus with an eye to modernize the school and develop a fine arts program that matched our academic and athletic curriculum. He encouraged students to begin a student-run newspaper to supplement their work on the existing publication, The Archon, and in the fall of 1959 The Governor was born.
Currently, The Governor is published online and printed three times a season with exclusively student-generated content. The editorial staff of The Governor is selected by season (fall, winter, and spring), and works as a team during the afternoon activity block to conceptualize, write, edit, design and produce the newspaper under the guidance of a faculty advisor.
